Couldn't resist posting another image of this beautiful bird. Pretty much the same conditions. Far away, large crop. Processed using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC 2014. Comments and critiques welcome.

It is a colorful bird, but for me the light areas of the duck need to have more detail, sort of washed out. It does look a bit soft , maybe because of the large crop. Thanks for sharing.

Nice shot - these birds are really hard to capture. I love the low angle and how you got the iridescence to show while not blowing out the whites. The only issue I see is the softness of the bird - but you state that it was a big crop which probably explains it.

Knowing your skill, I assume the softness is an artifact of the heavy crop. But it's a lovely capture of a Buffy Drake, especially the iridescent colors.

Thanks everyone for the comments. This was indeed a large crop, but I wanted to share the fact that I managed a somewhat decent image. The quality was not great, but now I have a baseline for future Bufflehead images.
