December 31, 2014 at Bosque del Apache, New Mexico This male Gambel's Quail was among a flock that fed in the bushes and the driveway at the entry of the park. They skittered in and out of the bushes as cars entered the park.

Nikon D4 Nikkor 600mm ISO640 1/1000 f/8 RAW Manual White Balance Auto Tripod Processed in Lightroom, PhotoshopCC2014, TK and NIK.

Thank you for your feedback. :toast:

The Quail there were really fun to watch. The light when this was captured was overcast and the color temperature was consequently very cold. I think as posted it is showing that cold light and needs to be adjusted. I've taken a shot at a color adjustment and an exposure adjustment. See what you think.

Patrick,
Looks like you and Keith are having a great time at Bosque. Funny looking crane though.
 Just kidding. You captured a pretty good head turn on this one. Neat looking quail. Keith came to my rescue today and I see has helped you out with a really good color/white balance adjustment. The colors are more natural looking now. Great image of a good looking quail. Can't wait to see some of your captures from this trip. Sorry I couldn't go with you.

A nice looking bird. I give Keith the assist in that the adjusted image is brighter and warmer which this picture needs :toast: ....................Jim

This went from a good shot to an exceptional one with Keith's adjustments. I like the warm color palette a lot. Great capture Patrick. :toast:
