Revisiting some old iris files where I was looking at some of the ways in which the primary and secondary petals interact. Experimenting, too, with different crops.

Canon 400D, 100mm macro, 1.3 sec @ f9, 0.33ev, ISO 200.

Ian, this is a magnificent interpretation of an iris. Refreshingly innovative, with beautiful colors complementing a gorgeous composition!! :toast:

Lovely! The front ocean wave-curl is perfect in presentation and lighting. DOF and dark vs yellow and bright is bold and well done. Congrats!

Most excellent composition using form and lines and the yellow is positioned just right. Brilliant work, Ian! Of all the possible way to show off an Iris, this says a lot by showing a little.

I've looked at this a few times now, Ian, and it's not working for me. Just shows you how subjective this art is! Not sure why this isn't working for me, but the image seems broken into parts, without flow, and there are two separated focal areas, one of which is at the very top. But again, this is just my subjective reaction, and I am clearly the minority opinion. :wavey:

Hi Ian,

Pretty nice abstract view of flower petals. The crystalline texture is nicely presented. The vertical presentation works well for the subject too. :toast: ........................Jim

These lines and curves mesmerizing. I really like the abstract presentation but the square of darkness in the center distracts me a bit by interrupting the natural flow. The curl is wonderful and the colors are beautiful

Ian: I love iris extracts/abstracts and love what you've done with this little petal tip. Excellent frame. >=))>

Your imagination never stops composing beautiful designs with the opposite yellow and blue. Jan, congrats for the WP.
