Having worked in a Tiger Reserve in South India, the challenges of conservation are showcased in a photostory here
http://jlrexplore.com/gallery/photostories/just-tigers

The tiger being a charismatic species is facing a lot of pressure, mainly from lack of preferred habitat, in pockets where they are conserved there is a problem of plenty. India's developmental needs stifle consolidation of corridors so that the tigers can thrive across landscapes.

Thankfully we have sufficient funding support, incomes from Ecotourism is also ploughed back to conservation, infact is its now mandated by law to contribute a part of the corporate earnings into conservation. The Tiger foundations have been created to help civil society contribute for Tiger conservation.

Hi Vijay,

I'm glad that tigers are getting some support through money set aside for conservation. So this appears to be an image of a nursing tiger cub. Do you have an image with the mother included as well? I like the high key approach, but I think this subject needs a foundation. On the belly of the cub, there appears to be a piece of a leg that has been cut off during masking. The cub appears to be free-floating in space. Could you provide how you processed the image? The composition is unusual, but the cub is positioned in an interesting portion of the image. The face of the cub has some nice wrinkles and there's a great deal of cuteness in the cub's face. Thank you for posting and the image has an interesting story associated with your photo :wavey: .............Jim

Sorry Vijay, for me this does not work. Looks like a fairly new born cub, but I think you need a stronger image to promote tiger conservation. Would like to see more of your tiger photos.

Hi,

Sorry I did not describe the image well. Actually it is a nearly full grown tiger foetus, one among 6 found in a tigress which had died of natural causes in the Tiger reserve.
Actually the link has the full photo story and the details

Vijay,
The white background for wildlife can be very effective. However, I find the pose of this young tiger awkward, do you have others?
