Another Bufflehead

Another trip to the local lake in search of the elusive Bufflehead. Found them again but they were not much closer than last time. Each visit I seem to be able to get a little closer. I don't know if they are getting used to me or they feel sorry for me. I like the fact that you can see the cute fan tail on this guy. They were preening today instead of diving for food.

Processed using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC 2014. Comments and critiques welcome.

I know from experience these are tough guys to get close to, not to mention dealing with the whites and darks. I think this turned out well. I like the head turn and the tail feathers. The colors turned out pretty well (this seems dependent on the angle of the light). Nice background colors.

Beautiful detail that enhances the sly look that he is giving you  ... the cute expression could indeed mean that he feels sorry for the guy with the big lens

Awesome fan tail, nice heard turn and colors are gorgeous. I wish the bit of foot wasn't showing though but that's real minor

Jerry, this could be my favorite of your Buffleheads so far. That's a sweet pose and the fan tail is real cool. Well done! :toast:

Nice pose. These ducks are very skittish and hard to photograph in any harsh light. Excellent work!

You have been doing very well with this series of bufflehead images Jerry. Your exposure work is excellent, nice detail through out the duck. I really like the water color in this one.

Sweet One
