I Want More!

I finally got some pictures of the Eastern Kingbirds that were hanging around our property this summer. One day Jenaya and I looked out and saw a whole family flying around looking for bugs to eat.

I think the bird that is perched is a juvenile and the bird flying in with a moth is its mom, but they all looked a lot alike! I know one thing, the bird asking for a meal kept eating whatever was brought and asking for more!

These guys are fun to photograph but they sure are tough to get pictures of sometimes! I was really happy to finally get a few. I can't wait for them to come back this summer!

When I first opened this was not sure about the oof bird ,the longer I look the more I like it, the gape on the perched bird really draws you in to the image, lovely piece of work.

Killer action - these birds nest in the parking lot at my job and they are a lot of fun to watch (and certainly aggressive). Awesome that you got all of this in the frame

Love the story this tells Josiah. Nice work...I like where the OOF bird ends and the BG bird picks up...any less visible areas in the BG bird and this would have been a very different image. Your timing was spectacular.

neat! while I'd obviously like to have both birds in focus, that's awfully tough with 2 birds that aren't in the same plane. I'd definitely consider boosting that ISO quite a bit, whether to get a faster shutter speed and/or more DOF for the second bird. all that said, I love the open bill of the juvenile, and the story that the image tells.

Hi Josh,

Pretty awesome. A baby bird's gape provides the target so that mom knows where to stuff that morsel of food. You pulled the trigger at the right time :toast: ........................Jim
