American Tree Sparrow
by Jim Zablotny
I was furiously cleaning my kitchen window with the hope of capturing an American tree sparrow perched on top of a small spruce in our front flower bed. I sat waiting, found a few more spots of grime on the window and cleaned some more. A small flock of tree sparrows flew in nearby and I waited with my body contorted on a tall chair with my feet propped up on the counter with camera supported in wait for the hapless sparrow to come within range. 65 shots later, I found several that piqued my interest. Pretty nice details, great colors, perfect bg and perch.
This is a way-cool portrait of a tree sparrow, Jim...absolutely love it. Great tones and contrast, gorgeous background, and nicely textured (and coloured) perch. The comp and balance to the image is very pleasing as well.
Beautiful.
Lovely shot.

Excellent job cleaning the window. Absolutely can not tell this is shot through glass. What an awesome perch you've got in your yard. You need to keep that window clean. Excellent detail, good head turn, and nice coloration. Sweet image Jim.
