A fresh processing of an older image from 2009. It's funny how not just processing skills change, but also processing taste. The original processed image is in my gallery if anyone is interested. This here has clarity reduced instead of increased. also has better high lite recovery due to the current version of Adobe ACR.

The famous Elm Tree in Cook Meadow, Yosemite Valley.

Thanks

The two are remarkably different images. This one is considerably warmer than the earlier version. The leaves look so much more vibrant here. Definitely an improvement.

This has a very nice mood to it. I think this version is stronger than the prior version you posted.

There is a color difference between the larger 1200 px version and the smaller version. I'm guessing you uploaded the 1200 px version with an sRGB profile embedded and allowed the NPN software to create the smaller 720 px version? If that is true, the software fails to embed a profile in the smaller version, hence a color difference.

Beautiful light. Love that background! The shadow on the right seem a bit heavy but with sufficient texture if you decide to open them a bit.

Beautiful shot Chris. The foreground, subject, and background are all lovely, and the composition is balanced in many small ways such as the lighting on the treetops and the single snag on the right side which would otherwise seem a bit empty. I see some haloing around the treetops, especially on the left side, and would considering darkening the left side below the treeline a bit. Great image.

Beautiful light and mood, Chris. It's amazing how much different this feels compared to the original. I like the warm color in the foliage and the mist.

This is a lovely tree, Chris. With PR like this, it's easy to see why it might be famous. The fog at the bottom and the softness of the rocks in the background work well, adding a nice sense of mystery while letting the tree glow. The new processing makes this a dramatically different image, with this version being much more mysterious and inviting. Neat comparison.

I like the way the light singles out the stunning foliage. It's probably just me, but I see a howling wolf in the bg, just to the right of the tree. I love this composition, but spotting him has distracted me from the tree. Oh well, my mind wanders. Nice work

Really special, Chris. Nice to be there with this kind of light. I didn't check the older version, but not much to complain about in this one. There is one bright spot under the lower right side of the canopy of the tree that I would clone. Other than that this is a real keeper. :toast:

Really sweet light you had here, Chris. If this were mine I might open up the shadows on the right hand side of the tree.

Very nice.  I find as my skills increase I too am drawn more to images with less clarity in certain instances it seems to give a bit more mystery to the photograph.
