Here is a follow-up to the previous post. I was zoomed in a touch more... not sure why I took this @ f/16 instead of f/22. Like I said it was kind of a one-off experiment. No tripod, not a lot of time, just messing around but so happy to get feedback from everyone.

Nikon D7100 12-24mm f4 @ 22mm HH
f/16
1/25s
ISO 400

Full Frame, "HDR" effect in Perfect Effects 8, adjustments to RAW in LR5 and CS5

Interesting abstract effect. It looks more like ice or snow than water. I have looked at it for awhile and it just doesn't grab me. The off rock is a bit distracting.

For some reason this one doesn't work as well for me as the last one did. Not sure why, perhaps the OOF rock is more apparent in this one.

An interesting abstract, Luke, and a fun comparison with your prior post. This one seems considerably more abstract due to less sharpness in the rock and the extra movement of the water (both of those are surprising since the earlier post was at 1/6s). As I flip back and forth between the two, I'm deciding that I prefer the previous view because of it's extra contrast, it's somewhat warmer tones, and that bit of water showing in the lrc.

This is also nice but the other one was much stronger....I think the out of focus rock is more apparent here and it's a distraction for me. But I do like the idea.

Still an interesting composition, but I prefer your other version, the out of focus rock becomes a bit too apparent in this one.

Thanks to all on the feedback - I pretty much agree that the OOF rock hurts... maybe next one will be a blend, I have a lot of different water patterns.
