A common garden snail I captured by hand at great danger and without the aid of a swat team. (But they were on stand-by). Taken on a D90 using a 105mm micro-nikkor manual lens (30 years old) at 1/40th at f16. At these distances, snails move pretty damned quick...

What an adventure! You were lucky to escape with your life. Fascinating detail and a nice combination of light and shadow.

Really cool and creative shot - looks like the snail is having a moment of self reflection!

Thank you Nancy, being slimed by a snail is definitely life-threatening... You have a wonderful portfolio I especially like your Mushrooms. Just magic!

Luke, a zen moment indeed! Brilliant pictures in your portfolio, love the shot Did You Hear That?

This is a neat, high key, look at this snail. You've done well holding details in the shadows and avoiding the tremendous dangers that these critters bring to the table.

I like the light giving the snail a translucent look. Great choice of setting and bg for the snail. Well composed and captured, or should I say well captured and composed, Peter.
