Work was cancelled today due to yesterday's snow storm that left a foot of the white stuff on the ground. All of our dogs are excited about the snow--its cold, wet, and provides a perfect place to snooze in the sun. I tried some bright light dog portrait photography and Havoc the camera hog showed up to play canine model. I used some luminosity masks to tone down the bright whites and lighten some of the deep shadows. I also did some selective color correction on the snow in the background. Thanks for looking K5 IIs 180mm f3.5 (1/640 sec at f10, ISO 200)................................Jim

Nice pooch portrait, Jim. Yu did a fine job with tones and color. The detail is excellent.

Man you've got some great-looking canine companions, Jim! I still haven't photographed our handsome new male Newf, but hope to correct that ASAP.

This is a great look from a beautiful model. I like the tight, intimate comp as well. IMO you may have brought the deepest blacks up just a shade too much...the darker darks seem a little lacking in contrast to me here but it's VERY close to perfect as presented...just a suggestion for a possible slight improvement sometime. And I do mean the deepest blacks, and only very slight possibility of improvement.
