Photographed this as the sun was lowering in the late afternoon at the Merced NWR. Comments always welcomed.

Gorgeous landscape, Floyd. I would be tempted to take a small amount of the red cast out, but it sure does add up to pretty as is!

This is a marvelous image Floyd. I like the simple color palette here. Different tones of gold and brown works very well here. The composition is very good as well. The tree dominates the scene with a wonderful compliment of objects. Would like to see a bit more sharpness in those branches if possible. As Phil stated the clouds at the very top seem to be a tad too reddish.

This view has a very "painterly" quality to it, Floyd. I expect that is at least party due to the overall warmth of the color settings. I also like the quiet reflection and the strong sense of depth.

Nice exploration to find an available but still great and simple landscape. Perhaps I find a little disconnect between the whiteness of the distant clouds and the nearer ones. Did you use a grad filter here?
Thanks for sharing! Tom

Great comp, Floyd and nicely rendered. I too noticed the disconnect between the BG and FG clouds which seem like they should be brighter/whiter. Also maybe you can get some of the blue out of the smallest branches particularly dead center in the shot.
Just needs some bird life for a quintessential Central Valley winter image.

The composition let the perspective run well, but the higher atout is IMHO the colours management: not played on the variety od contrasting tint but on similar, warm tones. I like it.
all the best,

Floyd: Really love the color palette and how well your comp emphasizes the tones. The larger version is a real delight. >=))>

What a lovely, peaceful scene! I don't see many images this beautiful from this time of year, so this is inspirational.
The soft, warm light and the classic composition brings to mind the art of the Hudson River School of painters. Well done!

Beautiful image Floyd. Always glad to see a non-bird photo from a place that is typically all birds. I have often tried landscapes at some of these Central Valley refuges, but usually too many birds in the way and in the wrong configuration. Nicely done!

Hi Floyd,
This image as presented is so warm and inviting, The composition really brings me in, and keeps me in the image nicely. The image has a very nice balance about it, and this is very nice photography.
Maybe think about playing around with the color balance, but beautiful as is.
