I have been off-line for a bit here and for the most part trying to get caught up on a few other things I guess. I just ran across this image and processed a web version today. This is an image I made a few years ago while hiking back into the first State Natural Area in Wisconsin. It is really an interesting area that I should get back to again. I know a lot of it was washed out by some major flooding not too long after I made this image but I would like to go back and see it again now. This was shot just as a rain was coming to an end and a little light started breaking in. I don't have all the info on the shot but know I shot it with a Canon 1DsMK11. Thanks for looking and any thoughts you may have. I will have to try and catch up on a few comments here!
Larger Version Included for best look.

Great intimate creek scene. Excellent heart shaped rock in the foreground. You should have posted this one on Valentine's Day. Very tranquil. I can almost hear the creek bubbling.

Nice forest scene, Nick. You always seem to find wonderful compositions in places where many would not. You have that wonderful tree on the left framing an S curve stream leading into the depths. The dead tree in the distance is a nice surprise although some would say it stands out. I do think that in this case a fast shutter speed would have given us clear visibility to the colorful rocks in the stream bed and that would have been an improvement.

I like this a lot, Nick. I'm sure many of the folks here caught in the grip of winter will have a heavy sigh at this tranquil scene. Very relaxing and excellent job as always. :wavey:

What a beautiful scene Nick. It just makes me want to shed shoes and lay back listening to the water. You handled the varying light very well.

Oh wow, that is some gorgeous light, Nick. Don't know why, but I am a big fan of leaning trees, so I could look at this for a long time (already did!).
I hope that the flood was kind to this area, and shows you some new scenes like this when you return.

Very nice scene, with lots of interesting stuff to look at! Especially the triple tree, the leaning tree and the curved tree. Nice work!

This does speak well of tranquility and sitting quietly beside a gurgling stream immersed in the natural world. I like the glistening of the wet rocks and how those luscious greens lead into the distance. This view shows signs of previous high water so it's hard to imagine what it might look like now.

I've been missing in inaction myself lately, Nick, due to a bunch of home repair projects. Lots to see here with the water course leading the eye through the forest. I like the various tree form representations and the fallen one in the BG is a real eyecatcher. The overall light is handled well and nicely balanced. I could see cropping off a bit of the sapling on the left since it is kind of close but not quite to being all there.

Creating a composition here and managing the light for a presentation like this looks daunting, Nick. I think you succeeded on both counts. I really like the saturation in the greens. This is what pulls me in.

Nice image Nick! I haven't been to Parfrey's since the washout as well.
Wonderful framing here. The color and contrasts remind me of film.
Well done. :toast:

I really appreciate all of your comments, thoughts and suggestions on this. Thank You! Nick
Matt, Maybe we should make a trip there this spring! I would like to see what it looks like once again. I was thinking about another trip to the Ice Caves as well but just checked this morning and the conditions do not allow access yet. That may not happen this year. Cheers!

Love your composition, Nick, and the quiet, peaceful feel to your image. The heart shaped rock in the foreground and those neat trees on the left really anchor the image. Nice.

Nick:

I like these tripod in the middle of the stream photos. Especially rainy days when the forest colors become so intense.
