I've been waiting for these guys to perch atop my snow laden spruce, but no such luck. This was taken the same day as my last tree sparrow shot and the snow was blowing around that morning. I cloned out a small stick that was protruding from the left and I decided to leave the single stick at the bottom in the shot.K5 IIs 300mm f4 (1/320 sec at f8.0, ISO 500) Levels, LM on dark darks and expanded midtones........................Jim

Sweet detail on the subject, all hunkered down and fluffed up. The blowing snow is the icing on the cake of a good story! :toast:

Really beautiful detail on the little guy, and again the snow adds a lot of dynamism! :toast:

Hi Jim,

Nice composition and details. I like how it captures the weather (blowing snow).

I really get the feeling of this little bird trying to withstand the wind and the snow, excellent shot!

What a tough for this little one. Beautifully captured, Jim, the expression on its face tells the story, as does, the blowing snow, of course. A poignant image.

I like the scene here a lot Jim. Good placement of the bird, love the story it tells. I understand you probably got the look you wanted here with the snow, but personally I find the long streaks a little distracting and wish you had a touch more SS. I am probably in the minority here, but wanted to be honest about my opinion.

This my kind of shot.. I personally appreciate the degree of difficulty it takes to pull this off so well.
Both you & the bird are fighting the elements, it's a timeless story of survival :toast:
Nice job Jim, well done. :wavey:

Jim,
The image tells the story. He is like a sea captain facing into the wind with spray into his face. Good catch. :toast:
