Cute how this little guy appears to have been eating snow - beautifully captured, John.

I definitely like the male, all fluffed and puffed. The BG is busy and somewhat distracting.

Nice pose and head turn. As noted, the background is a little busy. With feeder shots, I try and set up for a clean background if possible. Perhaps a little brighter?

Hi John, technically a nice job tithes shot. I do agree with David though about setting up the feeders with a clean BG would be more ideal. I wish you also had a touch more room around the bird, not sure if you cropped due to the busy BG, if so, I understand the decision.

Hi John,
I know the challenge of getting birds at feeders. I think you did the best you could with the background, but what's really nice about this cardinal are the gray feather edges on the back. They drew my eye to the bird and not to the background..........................Jim

A little tight, but this is a nice image. The feather detail is good.

John,
I agree with Kurt regarding the tight crop. I think a larger crop might make this a stronger image despite the limbs and sticks around it.
