Nice name, right? It took me several days hiking in this area, before I could pronounce it correctly, haha.

This was taken in less then perfect light at noon, but I still wanted to make a photo of this. Not only because I really liked the valley, but also because it includes the coolest bridge I have walked on so far. If you look closely, you'll see a tiny bridge on top of the waterfall! The drop to the valley is about 250 meters. It was a sheer pleasure to be hiking in this area, even though it was tough terrain. As icing on the cake, I would get the strongest aurora show I have witnessed so far during the night. Now that's a good day in the field!

I consider the bridge too small to be posting this in the M&N gallery, but if the moderators think differently then feel free to move it!

C&C welcome!

Roel

A close-up of the bridge. It was kinda wobbly, making it even better to walk on!

Looks like the proverbial "Kodak moment", Roel, with the sun over the shoulder and some fine scenery. That is indeed quite a waterfall. It's also a lovely glacier carved valley.

You've done really well Roel with the noon light to mitigate any harshness. The shadow areas look very natural. I like the curve of the rock cliff reflecting the curve of the river. No suggestions from me on your image, looks like great country to explore. :toast:

Edit: when I first looked at the smaller version I thought that the area above the falls was actually snow in shadow due to how white it appeared. Perhaps adding some blue to the lake might solve that perception? Not important but thought I would mention it.

I like the glaciated rock and the valley. The cascade is nice, too. You might consider reducing the blue in the shadows and maybe increase the blacks just a bit.

Beautiful valley! The bridge looks great too. I would not mind a little more room at the top above the left clouds, but pretty minor.

I like the depth of the image of the image a the way you have presented a grand landscape. The harsh light doesn't help, but you handled it well. If possible it would be worth being there early or late and shoot this in some really nice light.

Spectacular shot considering the light you had to work with. Love the expansiveness of it.
