Taken at the Miller Park Zoo where I was trying to get snow leopard photos of them in the snow, when I spotted this icicle hanging from a twig with an early bud.

Clinging by a thread - nicely seen! I don't recognize the buds, are they hardy in this situation?

Looks like you got there just in time. Great details, well exposed and love the shallow depth of field.

The ice is great. I'm not all that fond of the background.

That's quite an ice crystal, John. I like how the background mimics the subject with lots of lines of light and dark. There's almost a feeling of a watcher back there. Lots of neat details in the crystal. Looks like it's hanging from a dogwood stem.

Hi John,

The icicle texture is well done. I wish the background was less harsh, but you take what nature throws at you...................Jim

This almost looks like an ice sculpture of a sloth hanging from a tree! Although you need a bit of imagination maybe, haha. Nice one!

I feel like the buds are getting lost in the BG, maybe punch up their color a bit? The ice is the main attraction though and it is nicely rendered.
