The Blue Hole

Since I just cleaned my freezer out last week, I went way back in my archives for this shot from a 2007(!) trip to Antarctica. Yes the blue ice really is that color in lots of situations down there

Taken with my first, and the world's first consumer, digital camera the Canon D30... from a bobbing Zodiac. f/8, 1/1000 sec, 75mm.

This is fascinating ...other worldly. The details seen in the large version are a 'must-see'. I think a proper display as a large size...with the right border would do it justice.

This is awesome. I love the blue and the balance of whites from the urc vs llc keeping me in the tunnel. And the concentric rings...this is very interesting to study. :toast:

I agree, large version is a must. I really like the "vapor cloud" mystery in the image.

Well this is way cool, Dave. I sure do like the sense of a blue tunnel leading me into another universe and how the reflection in the middle is the sharpest part of the image. Like I always say when I do a photo class, "It not the camera, it the brain and eyes behind the camera that make and image." Do you lead tours of your freezer?

A nicely composed and very interesting capture, Dave! It looks like you were crawling in an ice tunnel. Good one for this challenge
