Many-Stripped Canastero

One of the few birds we photographed at Papallacta Pass along with the Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe. This Canastero was shot at an elevation of about 12500-13000ft from the window of the van as we descended down from the towers.

Amazing that these guys can thrive at that altitude.

Papallacta Pass, Ecuador

Handheld from the van window.

This is a very cool shot Chuck. I love the overall color palette of the image. Details are sharp on the bird and the perch is pleasing too. The only suggestion I would have is to tone down the exposure of the brighter areas in the lower right corner a little. Great capture! :toast:

This turned out nicely Chuck, a spectacular bird with all those streaks nicely captured. In the larger version the lower right does grab my attention a little bit so if you could tone that down more that would improve this, although that's very minor. :toast:

A very cool looking bird on a fabulous perch. Nice head turn. I too am a bit distracted by the brighter area in the LRC. I did a bit of work and pulled the brights in that area down via some manipulated TK masks. Nicely captured.

Lovely bird, presented in a very pleasant setting - which makes it a fine image for me ! Well done ! Hans
