This is near the visitor center in Crater Lake National Park from January of 2011. I recently went through some trip photos and found this one I had not processed before.
Canon 40D, f20, 1/125sec., iso 400, +0.7 step exp bias, 20 mm (17-85 IS lens). Slight cropping to remove yellow boundary line in the snow.
Thanks for looking.

I sure like how the front trees start out sharp and then angle into the frame getting softer with distance. The very subtle hints of ridge in the distance do a good job of adding interest in the background. You've got an interesting combination of cold yet inviting going on here, Ed.

Wow, that misty atmosphere really adds depth to this scene. I bet many people would pass this up as "too cloudy to see the lake." Glad you saw the beauty in this view.

Beautiful hill of snow in FG with those frozen trees supported by the misty atmosphere with the mountains as background bring a beautiful mood enough that I would like to be there. Bravo!

Nice, misty scene. I like the trees and the detail in the snow. You a good job handling the exposure.

Just a presentation note: When you have a very light area along an edge or a corner, it's helpful add a thin black border around the image so that it separates from the page background.

I think this works. This evokes a sense of the quiet stillness that can often be found in the winter.

A beautiful scene that makes me feel right at home, Ed! I particularly like the graphical elements in this; the diagonal lines and the triangle shape of the tree covered hillside in the middle. I also really enjoy the back-lit ice fog and the hint of blue sky and mountain peak in the background. Very nice! :toast:

I like the up-sweep of this composition from misty lake to crystalline trees. Nicely seen and captured

Nice scene, Ed. I like the diagonal form here with very nice misty light. I'd like to see this in b/w, it has everything I look for. Very nice in color too. :toast:

classic and effective diagonal composition, with soft and well controlled tones and natural colours.
Very good for my tastes.
All the best,
Sandro
