Soaring Eagle

Ok - here is a sharper version of the flying bald eagle. I wasn't paying attention when I originally went through the images and the first post wasn't the best shot. I also spent some extra time processing this one with suggestions from fellow NPN folks and think this came out much better. Thank you all

Nikon D7100 300mm f4 + 1.7X TC HH
f/8
1/1600s
ISO 400
+.33 EC

Cropped to about 50%

In Lightroom I barely bumped the exposure - but instead adjusted whites and blacks and a minor curves adjustment. In Photoshop I played with highlights/shadows a bit to bring out some more depth in the wings.

The larger version really shows off the details. Optimal wing position IMHO. What a pleasure it must have been to have witnessed this and to have come away with a winner! If it isn't against your moral character, a change of sky would be the icing of a very nice cake.

Hi Luke, the large version has some great detail in it. Shows off that impressive wingspan real well. Nice job!

I like this one best of the three for sure Luke. Nice job getting this one sharp. I like the wing position and the comp. I do think it still seems a little under though. I am not sure how much more you can bring up the exposure without introducing to much noise...knowing your previous work, my guess is you already tried and this was the limit. Still nice job on this overall. :toast:

Man, this is the Bald Eagle shot everyone wants. There is no colorful sky, but to me, that just puts our focus 100 percent on the bird. This leaves no doubt that the sky is the the home of this magnificent creature. This is the ultimate in graceful simplicity. Well captured at the right moment, and well executed with you increased attention to processing detail.

Very nice high key image here Luke, the light wasn't working with you but you ended up making a nice image anyway. :toast:
