Three Cubs on a Tree

Three Lion cubs put on a tremendous show for the group I was leading on a photo tour to Northern Tanzania. This is one of the few moments they managed to stand still. These 3 siblings are part of 20 strong mega pride in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania.

WOW, sweet capture! Not one, but three all in focus on a log that was placed there just for this pose. A fantastic moment. Thanks for sharing.

Three in a row, you gotta be kidding me. Amazing opportunity and amazing capture. In a perfect worl, the sky would have been hidden by vegetation, but I'm just being picky now.

Great to get 3 different neat poses from these 3 cubs Mario. I think it would make a great pano as well by taking some from the bottom to make the log less dominant. :toast:

Hi Mario,

Very nice behavioural shot (in a pretty darned nice setting) - poses and body positions are great! That "mega pride" must be something to see!

My only thought/suggestion on this one parallels what Nate was driving at, tho' for a slightly different reason. I'm wondering if a slight crop from the bottom - removing the green vegetation and perhaps a LITTLE of the log might strengthen the image. I don't find the massiveness or dominance of the log too troubling, but I'm thinking getting the cubs a little lower in the frame (and out of the mid-line) might be good. And I'm thinking that the green vegetation along the bottom of the current frame doesn't really add much (and just adds one more element to the composition that isn't really needed). Just a thought...

Cheers...

Brad

Thanks to all the comments guys :toast:

Following Nate's and Brad's suggestion to crop out some of the lower vegetation . . . See if you like this better. They might be right . . . What do you think ? :wavey:

Oh, they look like little troublemakers!!
I think another caption for this would be: "I'm thinking about causing trouble; I'm not going to be involved in trouble; and I'm headed off to start some trouble!"
Unlike the others, I like the log as it is in the original image. It just seems to add to the feeling of really capturing a single moment in time.

Mario,
What a great sighting beautifully captured, the varying poses make this a stunner.
I prefer the OP as the removal of the grass removes the natural feel for me :toast: :toast: :toast:
