Usually I can't get this close to the Scoters, so I'm fairly happy with this shot. I like the wave action and color of the water and how the Scoter is riding the crest.

Thanks for looking. Comments appreciated.

Great look at this bird and I like the action a lot. The whites look a little hot and the blacks look a bit noisy. Did you happen to take any images without the flash?

Ha! My first thoughts were "Nice close shot, and I like the wave, especially with the clarity and color of the water." Then I read your description, which said almost the same thing.

Exposure and details look fine to me.

Luke, Thank you for your comment. I was out practicing/experimenting with the Better Beamer, so no other shots. I agree with you that the white on the forehead is hot and the blacks never did look quite right to me. I think the Mark II is in my future; I've been impressed with the paucity of noise at high ISO settings.

Hi Allen, there are some issues that have already been discussed concerning the blacks and whites. The water looks crystal clear. Keep experimenting with the beamer and let us see the results. Nice shot.
