Audubon's Oriole

We just finished up our annual Whooping Crane and South Texas March workshop. This year the Audubon's Orioles were coming in really well to one of the blinds at Santa Clara Ranch. It was the first time I had gotten more than a record shot of them there. I'm looking forward to heading back down there in May. Bird was attracted with oranges and grapes. Slight crop for composition.

Hi Nate,

Nicely done. The soft brown background brings out the perch and oriole perfectly.............................Jim

This is beautiful Nate. The yellow flowers on the branch tie in with the bird very well. Killer background and all the tec=hs look good. Typical Nate image.

Oh yeah, this is much more than a "record shot." Could not be better if it were set up in a studio. The branch, vegetation and background all look like they were placed there just to make this bird look great. Absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks for your comments Jim, Jerry and Wayne. Wayne it is a perch (huisache) that I placed there. The huisache were in full bloom down there.

Sweet shot of the Oriole Nate. I like the diagonal perch and of course the matching flowers make all the yellows pop. Background is flawless as is the composition. :toast:

It's a way top notch photo. But what I truly admire is your (consistent) honesty in how you obtain them.

  Stunner, Nate! Super clean, super cool. Perch is off the charts but the whole frame is sublime. Nicely done...I know these shots rarely just "happen."
