A Rhododendron bud-- gonna pop into a gorgeous flower any minute!

Panasonic Lumix GH 3, Lensbaby Composer Pro with custom aperture and +4 macro diopter, on-camera flash; 1/80, ISO 500.

Thanks again for your thoughts on this one.

Catherine: Having ZERO clue how easy/hard it is to manipulate the POF with the lensbaby my preference would be for the center red section of the bud to be sharp. However I do like the overall comp and colors. Would be interested in a follow up when baby is born.>=))>

I think that, despite the extremely narrow depth of field, you have enough detail in focus in the right places to hold the viewer's attention. And you got some gorgeous colors too. Nicely done! :toast:

Works for me, Catherine. I agree with Bill. Still there is good focus, though narrow.

Nice, a pink spiral staircase. Love the textures here.

Beautiful colors Catherine. Nice subject for a macro. The textures of the bud have come through well.

The lens baby is such a hard piece of equipment to get the preferred end result. For me it is a hit or miss because of the very narrow depth of field it allows. This Rhododendron shot is a little tight in the frame for my personal taste, but the shape, colors and point of focus are spot on.

Works well, really does have that feeling of about to open. Maybe a little more sharpness in central magenta bud?
