Plenty of Shoebills on Lake Albert Uganda this time. Unfortunately you just have to wait for a flight shot with no idea where or when it will go,just hope for the best

I don't recall ever seeing a flying Shoebill in this forum. If possible, these guys look even more bizarre when flying. The techs look good, just wish the angle was better.

Hi Ken, I would love to see one of these someday. Such an odd looking bird. The angle could have been better but still a very detailed image and a nice scene. Well done!

Great title! Nice catch with the wing in the right position to show us the bird's face even flying away (which is what birds to a lot ;^) )
Compositionally, the sky is not so interesting, but that's a difficult detail to think about when following a bird in flight. If there is any way to show more water on the bottom and less sky on top, that would improve the composition, but that's a relatively minor point. (Another minor point is that this appears to be tilted slightly counter-clockwise, but that could be just an optical illusion.)

That is one ugly head! You've got some fine great in the bird, especially the outstretched wing.

Been there many times with lots of species...all flying away. I of course wish for a different angle, but understand you have to take what they give you. Very cool and strange looking species. I have never seen one posted before Ken, so thanks and I hope they give you a chance at the angle I know you're seeking.

A wild looking bird, Ken. Excellent choice of dof to get the whole bird in focus and even though it's heading away a bit, you caught the eye.

Thanks everybody for your comments, I agree entirely that the angle is not the best (fly away).
I hope to find something better from the other days.

I cannot recall seeing a flight photo of this species before. As noted the angle is not the best, but it is sharp and shows the head well. thanks for sharing. Hope to see more of this one.
