Tug-of-War

It's been a long time since I posted-I had a bit of a creative slump last fall and winter, but I headed out in February for a six weeks photography/sightseeing trip and have just returned. I think I ended up with a few keepers. This was from my first night out at Farewell Bend State Park in Oregon near the Idaho border. The place is always lousy with ground squirrels, but it was also full of robins this time and in February I had the park literally to myself. This one was busy enough with its worm that it didn't pay much attention to me. Wish I'd gotten lower, but I bruised a rib just before I left and I was babying it quite a bit.

7Dii, 300mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, hand held, iso 800, 1/320, f/7.1, Av mode, no exposure compensation. Cropped to just over 50% of the original (10.24 MP final size). Processed in CS6. Taken at 3:24 pm on February 11th.

Your comments are very much appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Nice to see a post from you Dennis. Maybe since spring is here, we will start seeing more again?
I like the behavior in this. I hope the Robin was successful! :toast:

Gotta good chuckle from the title and picture -- good to see a little humor amongst all the so serious shots here --

Fun catch, Dennis...almost makes me feel sorry for that stretched out worm.

A very unusual shot - on the thumbnail I couldn't tell what was happening, but when I opened it all was clear. Nicely seen and captured ! Cheers, Hans

I find that Fall and Winter is a less productive time for all of us, mainly because the birds are all gone. But how cool is this shot? I like the look of intensity on the Robin's face, and the way that he is leaning into the task at hand. :toast: :toast:

Good to see you back Dennis,
What a great moment you captured here although I'm sure the worm would disagree.
Well done . . . :toast:
