Weston Beach
by Igor Doncov
My son and I went to Pt Lobos this weekend. The light was perfect for the rocks at Weston Beach. But unfortunately the tide was up during the hours of good light so only the rocks above the splash zone were shootable.
I think this is sedimentary rock with grass clinging on the edge of possible existence. Close ups of the substrate show tiny sand grains protruding from the surface giving it a graphic look. The habitat is really too salty for the grass but it's able to eek out a living with the upper green fronds. The white material around it is dry salt as far as I can make out.
I shot this originally at white balance set to cloudy but cooled it considerably in photoshop because it seemed too warm. All C&C are welcome.

However, it is a flat plateau at the top, and one does not need to stand close to the edges to get the views. My shot was taken from a bit of a higher postion compared to what you linked to. The plateau on Ryten is one of the more comfortable places - see me recent post in the M&N Gallery..;-)
Also the colour are well controlled. Definitively I like it.
