Wandering Tattler?

f / 5.6I was at La Jolla, Calif. Sunday and captured this bird which seemed less concerned with the incoming tide and surf than the other birds.  I think it is a Wandering Tattler.  There were three and they really entertained me until someone with a dog not on a leash scared them off.

Canon 7D Mark II with EF 500mm on tripod

Hi Skip. Nice catch. I'm not good with shore birds, but I don't think this is a Wandering Tattler. I just looked that species up on Ibird and the illustration abd all four pictures show a relatively unpatterned head and back with heavy patterning on the breast and sides. No clue what it really is.

This is a fine view of this bird, Skip.  I like your dof, with all of the bird nicely sharp.  The subtle reflections of the bird and the rippled water add some fine extra interest.

Nice light across the bird, great habitat & parted beak pose Harry.

Good sharpness and well positioned in the frame.

Well donedevil
