Phormium + B&W

Re-edit of a picture taken with my old Canon 30D, f8, 1/100.  I also have a sepia treatment which is more subtle and brings out different leaves, but thought I'd get some feedback on this original.  Thanks as always.

Lucy,

This is an outstanding image on so many levels, the light, the lines, the details, the shadows and the colors all combine perfectly. The water droplets add that touch of freshness.

Well done and I would toast you if I could find the two little beer mugs in this new comment format, How long have I been away ?

I lke the colors in this image very much - not sure that the sepia would be an improvement, but one never knows. The composition is intriguing....

This has an abstract quality to it that I like.  Well composed.  I like the lines and textures and the water droplets are a nice touch.  I'd have to see the sepia version for comparison, but the color combination here works well.devil

Well visulaized and captured for the abstract, graphic look, Lucy. The black bg works well. devil

The light is beautiful and the arrangement most interesting.  the water drops add a great deal of interest as well.  Excellent work

Lucy: I love the graphic quality of this and think it is very well composed. My only 1¢ suggestion would be to make the two small tips on the bottom edge near the center disappear but that is a trivial matter. The darker ones in the LRC are unobtrusive enough that I think they can stay. Very well seen and captured.>=))>

I pretty much agree with Bill's call re the tips. Excellent sharpness and angularity. Well seen and caught.devil

Thanks all for the feedback.  And Bill I had considered removing the two small tips but I kind of like the way they echo the shape of the big leaves and they're small enough that they don't seem to distract.  I had brutally removed a lot of clutter from the original which had lots of leaves and it was interesting to see that the more I removed the more elegant the image.

If I can figure out how to do it I'll post the sepia which has totally different emphases.

Lucy:

Fabulous graphical image.frown  Love the line and points.  I did have the same thought as Bill about the 2 little points but in the end I like this as it is. Well done!  The B&W one can do with a little more contrast to bring out the stark/graphical quality of this image.

Looks very much like an abstract sculpture, Lucy !  Excellent lighting, fine detail and some dynamic lines to the composition make for a most unusual and striking image. devil

Lucy: I'll ditto Gary regarding a bit more contrast on the B&W but I like it as well. I also edited your title to let folks know you added the conversion. You can edit yourself by clicking on the edit link on the image thumbnail. Intriguing shot.>=))>

Bill, thanks so much for the edit and info.  I wonder if others are getting weird symbols with the text in this new format?
