I went on a major wildflower hunt last Saturday and ended up Southwest of San Antonio around Poteet. I have never seen so many white prickly poppies but interspersed among them were a few of these red guys. I've been all over Texas back roads and byways and cannot recall seeing red blooms. I had to wait on the wind since only the slightest breeze set them in motion. I did get a few keepers. All comments welcome. >=))>

A definite keeper. Fabulously tack sharp (hope you did not have to wait too long for the lull in the wind) and details are nicelly shown in the larger image. Many thumbs up.

That centre positively sparkles with the stigms detail and all that spilled pollen, Bill ! Just wonder how this would look on a bit more of an angle but lovely as is.
eye-popping, indeed! great color combination with truly vibrant yellows. Love the sprinkles of pollen. Nice work
