During my trip to Rwanda I visited the Sabyinyo group and I was so lucky to have the opportunity to see and photograph this 3 day old baby. The mother was so relaxed and happy and really showed her baby off. All the tourists were in awe and so was I. I will never forget this trip.

6 commentsA very cute portrait, Betty!
Love the clarity in the eye.
Thanks, Morkel.
An image like this will consolidate the memories of such a trip for a lifetime. What a pleasing look at those young eyes!
Goodness, Betty-Lou! (BTW, do you prefer Betty or Betty-Lou?) This is a very endearing image. Wonderful look at those expressive eyes and face, and the comp and details look solid. I can only imagine how special it must have been to experience, and it's even more memorable when you bring home a moment like this to share with others (and thank you for doing so here!).
Thanks, Lon. It sure does. I will never forget this trip. More of this trip to come, because I had some other really nice other encounters.
Thanks, John (and I prefer Betty-Lou, but I am not offended when people call met Betty). This trip was an experience of a lifetime! So more images of this trip to come. About this image: I heard some other people telling they had seen a small gorilla baby as well, but the mother constantly covered it, so they could only see a glimpse. That made me realise even more how special this encounter was as well as the one the day before, when I saw a mother of the Hirwa group with her twins of 2 months old. I will post an image of that encounter soon.
