The afternoon I arrived at Falcon State Park in Texas, this beautiful lady came to check out my campsite.  Not for my stellar qualities, alas, but because so many campers set out bird food (I picked some up the next day).  I really like the forms of the oof bg vegetation in this image.  The bird is a bit centered, but I tried cropping some off the left to decenter it, and did not like the result as much as the original.

7Dii, 300mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, hand held, f/8.0, 1/800, iso 1000, aperture priority, center weighted average metering with +1 stop compensation.  Processed in LR5 and CS6.  Full frame.  Taken February 28th at 3:16 pm.

Your comments are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Looks fine like it is, Dennis. Good looking bird—detail, catchlight, pose, etc. The OOF branch pattern really adds to this.

Hi Dennis, very nice ideed, love the expanse of the environment. Not sure why, but the chest reflects a warmth to it like a flash, but nothing was used???? I might suggest adding a Linear Curves adj (for simplicity) via Curves on the subject just to provide a bit more definition.

Cool bird Dennis, You captured very sharp feather detail in the bird. The raised crest is nice too. The oof background works well for the image. The only distraction I see is the oof branch in the foreground. But it's not bad. Well done!

Great image Dennis ! Especially in the larger version, the background adds to the image with the fine structures. The bird itself is a beauty as well, and the lychen on the perch are the final touch ! devil, Hans
