A Higher Titmouse

by Dennis Plank

Gallery: AvianPosted April 23, 201575 views7 comments

Everyone seemed to want my last titmouse post to have the bird a bit higher in the frame.  Unfortunately, there was no lower to raise the bird higher.  This is from a few frames earlier and a different perch.

7Dii, 500mm F4 ISL + 1.4TC, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs on picnic table, f5.6, 1/2000, iso 800, aperture priority, center weighted average metering, no compensation.  Processed in LR5 and CS6.  Cropped to 15.5 MP from the original 20.  Taken, at 249 pm on March 3rd at Falcon State Park, Texas.

Interesting inquisitive pose and perch, Dennis - very different from the "normal"

You've captured a unique pose as the bird appears ready to flit away. The subject forms a nice diagonal line. Richard

Hi Dennis, love the posture of the subject here, inquisitive little fellow. With the raised crown, he looks like part of the Crested Tit family.

If it was me I might add a slight Channels Curves adjustment just to tease a little more detail out within the blacks.

Great curious looking pose you captured of this little fellow Dennis. I like the perch, but I think the diangonal branch under the titmouse really adds to this photo. A very pleasing comosition.
