Morning Hours

End of March I went visiting the region of lake Bienne in switzerland, where I grew up. Actually I intended to go shooting on the shores of lake Bienne but I didn't make it.  While on my way I suddendly saw this fog bank and thought this might be a good picture. And indeed it turned out to be a good idea. I looked for an interesting place to compose my shot and then waited until the light was perfect. I did not plan this image. It just happened - one of those rare moments when you get lucky and you see something and it's just perfect.

The mist really is the key here. It helps controlling the sun and those shadows appearing in the mist are really cool. Well seen and done! This is why we should always keep an eye on what's going on around us!

Absolutely beautiful, Bill.  Very dreamy and surreal scene. Amazing the camera kept the dynamic range under control, too.

Way to take advantage of some unique conditions, Bill.  Amazing dynamic range and I love the space up top to let this comp breathe.  Really well done.crying

Classic composition, a great study in rule of thirds. Love the light.

Gorgeous image, Bill.  Your composition could not be better.  The subtle shadows of the trees playing upon the foreground fog are fantastic, and the dynamic range you achieved overall is remarkable.  The large image is a joy to view.

An otherworldly, graphic work of art, Bill. No nits from me at all.

This is a great, monochromatic scene, Roland.  The tree silhouettes work very well and I'm really enjoying their shadows  The extra depth added by the ridges and the cloud works well also.

Hi Bill, yes this looks like a rare moment you captured here. Scenes we all want to photograph and not that often we are in the right place at the right time, at least I find myself far to seldom in such conditions.

Brilliant color and light Bill.  The fog adds nicely to produce a very beautiful and ethereal image.
