I came across this fascinating wall on my recent Utah trip. Geology amazes me, with its variety and colors.

Please have a look at the large version. The wall textures and details really don't come across in the small.  To give a sense of scale, the wall is about 8 feet across.

Could not agree more, Harley. I wish I'd done better in my college geology class....sad.....but you usually get out of it what you put into it....cheeky

This is a great find. Almost has a look of an old lithograph print from the textures overall. With that said, it appears to me as a cluster of leaning trees. Truly excellent....!!

This is a great abstract/detail shot Harley! I love the iridescent look of the stone.

Fascinating is almost an understatement in this case, this is very interesting! I too love geological structures, and this one is no exception. The almost perpendicular lines are great, especially since they are emphasized by their color difference. Great job catching this!

Remarkable abstract Harley and the larger version makes the small one look positively pedestrian so I recommend that everyone open this one up laugh

Harley, the criss-cross pattern is wonderful and the rocks are such a nice warm brown.  Picking out a focused selection like this is a challenge and you've done wonderfully here.

Beautiful details, textures and colors. For rocks, it doesn't like cold and it's very interesting to look at. Bravo!

This has a subtle, painterly look Harley.  The light and detail are superb.

Wow, this is fantastic Harley.  This is the kind of art I can just sit and stare at for ages, and I agree, geology amazes me too.

Well done, Harley.  I love the feathering coming off the diagonals.  They look like stalks pressed into the stone face.  The texture and patterns are like fine japanese art.  Very nice.

Exquisite image, Harley, a wonderful exquisite image.  The intersecting lines, the textures, the color, everything works so very well.  With so many possible compositions, your chosen composition is stunning.  Love the large image.  A large print of this would be a real sight to see.

The rock looks like old wood to me.  Don't know if that's an intentional transformation or if that's the way it was.  It's certainly interesting either way.  This image seems to be begging for a reasonably strong vignette to keep the eye in the frame better.
