Here's a sunflower from last summer.

Canon 5d II, 24-105 f/4L @105mm
3-exposure blend for both focus and exposure of the center of the flower. 1/125, 1/80, and 1/25, all at f/4. Looking back, I'm not sure why I didn't use a smaller aperture to get more DOF. Oh well, it was a good exercise in focus blending.

Craig, it looks like your stacking efforts did the job! I don't think you would have kept the BG as smooth by stopping down to get the required DOF.

In the past I have experimented with PhotoFlex reflectors to give a little "pop" to the flower and it works quite well.

Hi Craig,

The stack looks good and the smooth bg is a bonus.  The center composition works for your subjectcrying.................Jim

Craig - Very pretty. Feel the warmth in a cold spring. Focus and DOF looks good for this size, even though the center perhaps could have been crisper.

Very well executed stack, Craig, with nice light and colour - the dof looks fine to me.  A personal preference might be for a lower cut off point ( maybe even to show the whole flower ) but this does carry a hint of a setting sun about it I must admit.

Like the placement on the sunflower (as if rising from the horizon).  Good detail and lighting as well.  Buttonwood Farm?  If not, a great place to find millions all in one place.  May see you there later this year.
