I'm sure I said I'd swear off these, but I liked the reed pattern in this one. I had to extend the canvas on the right a bit to put the bird where I wanted it in the frame-hopefully I didn't botch it too badly.

12 commentsAll the mid tone brown throughout the area allows the red head to really stick out in this scene, Dennis. The composition works perfectly here too......very nice!....
Very nice capture, Dennis, and a lovely color palette. I wish the bird were a bit bigger in the frme, but you can only get what they give you. Nice work on the right side extension.
striking image. The contrast presented by this bird is fantastic and the composition rocks
Love the head turn Dennis, beautiful ccomposition too,
Ray
love the lines in this and the bit of color against the nice browns. might take a bit off the left/top--not much at all, and only an idea--the comp is really good as is.
I like the composition and background. Looking at the small image I thought the bird was too small, but it works in the larger image.
Dennis it's right up my street, cracking piece of work.
Keith.
I like this one too Dennis
.
The small flycatcher in the reeds really gives a nice sense of how big these litlle beauties actually are. A very pleasing composition.
Nice job with this Dennis. You've been doing some great bird in habitat images. Wish more people did these!
Love this composition Dennis! The curved and broken twigs add nice symmetry to the comp, and the background offers a great canvas to the birds beautiful color. Very well presented.
Nice environmental shot. The patterns of the reeds are pretty cool.
This beautiful redhead stands out famously Dennis, the perfect subject for this style of comp.
I like all the diagonal lines, and the sharp head turn looking back through the frame.
Very nice
