Mediterranean morning

Daybreak on Cabo de Gata, along the Mediterranean coast of Almería, Spain. Some time ago I posted a slightly different view of this spot, which perhaps agrees better with the image that we have of the Mediterranean. But sometimes, especially in the spring, it can get very windy, cloudy and cold (well, by Mediterranean standards). The photo is taken from a headland, called Mesa Roldán, where there is an old (seventeenth century) watchtower and an operational lighthouse. It was so windy this particular morning (earlier this April) next to the watchtower, where I had parked the car, that I was concerned that the car would flip over, so I drove it down to a more protected location and then walked back up. The spot is about an hour drive from the town where my mother and brother live. It is a mandatory trip for me every time that I go for a visit.

M.Zuiko Digital 12-40mm f2.8, Olympus OM-D EM-5, ISO 320, 1/125 sec at f/3.5. No tripod possible (my camera would be at the bottom of the sea), hence the less than ideal depth of field.

Yes, a slightly higher point of view would have been nice, but losing your camera is not worth it! This photo has windy written all over it, love the atmosphere. Standing there with the wind blowing like crazy must be a great experience.

I like the perspective, along with the rich blues of the water. I am a bit on the fence about the expanse of plain light gray in the sky? Maybe do a light clone to put a little darker cloud texture in there? The OOF foreground doesn't bother me. Overall, a nice image, making the best of very tough conditions.

Harley, I tried that...it looks fake, so I'd rather keep nature's "imperfection" ....

Alberto, This image captures the conditions you discribed very nicely. I can just feel the cool air and wind while viewing this.

I like the effect of the wind on the foreground and the white line of foam on the shore prooves without a doubt the windy condition. Beautiful rendition of this weather with well balanced lights.

very very good.  Soft light and soft contrast respected and well managed. I like particullary the symmetry of low grass zone and clouds: perfect and silky frame to the coast and see.

All the best,

Sandro

I like the depth captured here and the details in the foreground.  Could maybe see trying to bring out some of the highlights and detail in the foreground to better emphasize these textures.

Good evening Alberto,

This view is sweet, and the depth is what I really enjoy with this view. I can feel the wnd with the movement in the foreground grasses, and some very nice photographic work.

Very nice job of catching the essence of the location, Alberto. The OOF FG doesn't really make an impact nor detract from the overall drama of the scene.
