Admittedly I set up in countless tripod holes for this icon, but I was fortunate to have some atmosphere that afternoon.

You were blessed with a very nice sky, Bill.  Don't feel bad about the icon, I collected my first shots from there a couple of weeks back.  An amazing place for sure.

A beautifull place with a very nice sky. Icon or not I am always happy to be in places like that and proud to have taken it by myself.

Such a weird and beautiful landscape, must see this myself one day. The light and clouds are great, and my only nit would be that I would have liked to see a slightly more zoomed in version. The large part of red at the bottom isn't really adding anything, and I would like to see the canyons more closely. And there is nothing wrong with taking shots at iconic places.

I like this, Bill.  The foreground shows some interesting but subtle topography and then the canyon falls off quickly to the river.  The stormy sky adds nicely.

It's a gorgeous place and the foreground adds some interest.  Would maybe burn down the top though to add some drama to the sky.

A classic scene well done. I would go along with Tony's suggestion.

I'd like to see a larger version of this, Bill. My inclination from the size posted is to be contrarian and suggest cropping the bottom fifth of the image off, particularly because the light there is pretty flat and even. I might change my mind on that though seeing a 1200 to 1500 pixel wide image which would allow my eye to explore the FG better.

Hi Bill,

I am having a hard time appreciating this image with the current size, but what I do see looks pretty darn good. In a larger version, I could really appreciate the subtleties of the foreground. I do enjoy the depth in this view, and want to visit the are in the future.
