May 17, 2015 at Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve While shooting with David Haynes, this Forster's Tern repeatedly "kited" in the same general location. The low, late afternoon light made him an interesting subject.
Nikon D4 Nikkor 600mm 1/1600 f/9 ISO250 White Balance Auto RAW Processed in LightroomCC2015, PhotoshopCC2014 and NIK.

3 commentsI love terns but they can be very difficult to shoot. You sure did a great job with this one though! You stopped the action at the perfect moment and the details are great. The best part of it is the exposure and lighting which puts this capture over the top for me. It's gorgeous, Patrick!

A cool view of this bird, Patrick. Detail looks good at this size. Nice job.
Patrick, I have absolutely no idea why this only has 2 comments. I normally am not a huge fan of shots not showing at least one eye, but it really works here. It makes me feel intrigued and interested at what the tern is viewing. I also am not normally a fan of heavy vignette, but it also works here and adds to the drama. Nice work!
