June 7, 2015 Balboa Island, Newport Beach, California has a yearly parade with an interesting variety of entrants. The parade runs for 3 whole blocks. There was a WWII entry that included vehicles, soldiers in original uniforms and a MacArthur impersonator down to the corn cob pipe. There were ten couples dressed in 40s outfits doing the jitterbug. These were two of the dancers. Balboa Island has a separate identity from the balance of Newport and is such a small community that this parade is enthusiastically entered and racously received. A friend is the Photo Editor of the Newport Independent and he took me with him as he took photos. As a result we were inside the barriers and had free rein to photograph as long as we did not hold up the parade.
Nikon D800 ISO640 1/1600 f/10 RAW White Balance Auto Nikkor 24-120mm 55mm Lest you think my settings don't make sense, the day was intermittantly cloudy and sunny. I changed settings on the fly either with shutter speed or f/stop without taking my eye off the view finder. Processed in LightroomCC2015, PhotoshopCC2014, and TK.
