Magnificent is right, and this image really captures that feeling. The lighting is wonderful, and in keeping with that mysterious, threatening look.

Great shot, Morkel. Love the uneven light on the leopard, the low angle and of course the stare. Even thw weeds on the right seem to almost perfectly frame him. I keep going back to take a peak at him before I submit this!

Cheers,

Hisham.

Hi Morkel,

Your title says it all in this image - great, powerful eye contact. Love the lighting. I like everything about this image except the bright beige out-of-focus band along the bottom (and note that my reaction to it isn't just because it's out-of-focus - as the brightest part of the image it definitely tugged at my eye - including even in the thumbnail).

Cheers...

Brad

The quality of this leopard is truly magnificent, with soft dappled lighting and great low perspective.  I agree with Brad that you could darken the foreground out of focus strip for notable improvement.

Thanks a lot, folks.

I already toned down the bright patch in front significantly (sun falling on sandy riverbed). Any more would make it that garish greyed out tone that I don't like.

That is one menacing looking leopard Morkel!  I just love the low, lying on your belly angle of this shot even if it does cause the bronw strip at the bottom.  It's not often you see this type of angle with such a fearsome predator staring at you.
