The Shadow Knows

by Dennis Plank

Gallery: AvianPosted June 14, 2015110 views7 comments

Just a Savannah Spaarow grooming, but the pose reminded me of the old poster for The Shadow.

7Dii, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f6.3, 1/2500, iso 800, aperture priority, center weighted average metering with -2/3 stop compensation.   Processed in LR5 and CS6.  Cropped to 6.8MP, so quite a bit of cropping.  Horizontal original.  Taken June 5th at 7:38 pm.

Your comments and criticisms are most welcome.

Thanks,

Normally one wouldn't be too keen on parts of the bird covered in shadows, but in this case it makes the images - especially with your text ! The pose and expression of the bird fit very well together devil, cheers, Hans

Now if you had caught it looking over its wing, that would have been perfect. It would have "known what evil lurks in the hearts of men!"sad

I think I would be tempted to tone down the OOF foliage. Otherwise perfect.cool

Very scary image Dennis, but well executed. It is certainly giving you the eye. Nice details and capture.

Nice capture, Dennis. The title is cute but I find the shadow across the head distracting. IT must have made exposure of the white malar stripe a real pain.

I like the pose and raised wing in this one Dennis. I might be tempted to crop this as a vertical to get rid of the leaves on the left though.
