Hooded Crow

400 miles there and the same back !!
My trip to Scotland proved to be less than fruitful- unless you like rain and Pine Martens!!- and at least I managed a new bird species in this Hooded Crow. Took three days with a hide on the shore of the Loch.
Slightly warey bird to say the least.!! My first bird on a rock !
70% of frame Blur on rock tarted up a bit. Taken in slight rain which made a change !! Saw two buzzards in a week and had three over the garden here today !!
Background is several species of bladder rack seaweed.

Not a totally wasted trip if you came back with this image, John.  I suspect the Pine Marten images are also up to your usual quality.  Exquisite feather detail and perfect exposure of the blacks.

John, I love Pine Martens and cannot find them to photograph here for the life of me...guess I need to take a trip to Scotland! I have never seen this species, so thanks for posting, Very cool looking Crow. Good detail on the bird and nice job on the exposure. Not sure what happened with your BG, but there are a couple of vertical lines on the left of the crow. One very visible and two more very faint lines. Not sure if you cloned something in PP which caused this and it is an artifact? Or if something else generated them. Either way, I would be tempted to clone them out.

Thanks both.

Kurt- they are rain drops. It got a lot heavier a bit later. I left them in  to see what folks thought. Easily fixed.

Plenty of Pine martens in Scotland.Trouble is they have developped a habit of raiding bird feeders!

Cheers

John,

A long trip is almost never wasted.

I have never seen one of these so I am happy that you made the effort.

Whilst the sreaks look like rain to me they are perhaps a little too obvious?
