The blue dashers finally showed up on our pond and I sat on the bank near a willow branch to snag a few shots of this male.. The chunk taken out of the rear left wing may have occurred yesterday evening when severe thunder storms went through our area. 7 commentsBeautiful, Jim. The blue body is perfectly contrasted with the gold bg. Could not have a better bg. Made to order. Excellent detail at f16.
This is a great look at this Blue Dasher, Jim against a fine background. I'm fascinated that this is your first of the year. I had one of these claiming each of my ponds starting in early June. In the last week, they've showed up in force with 3 or 4 hanging around each pond and constant chasing, which is a lot of fun to watch plus the occasional female mating and laying eggs.
I'm right there with Scott, "made to order" might be considered over-used by some.. But it's very fitting here Jim.
I went out yesterday for a bit, it's that time of year again..
Frickin' hot too
Nicely done!
Marvelous detail, Jim. The background really brings out the colors of his body and delicate texture of the wings. I wonder if they are capable of realizing that a piece of a wing is broken?
Jim, excellent in every respect! This has a three dimensional look.
Nicely done and well focused to get detail on both sets of wings, Jim, and very pleasing BG.
Jim: Great plane of focus management and a terrific perch and BG. Superbly crafted image. Congrats on the WP. >=))>
