With the heat wave we are experiencing here in northern Utah, I thought a little snow might be in order.
This image was taken in February of 2013 along Antelope Island State Park causeway a week earlier than my last post, but during the same dreaded winter inversion that persisted for weeks.(it was always nice to retreat back into the mountains and clean air at the end of the day) The same fog and lighting conditions as before also rendered this image "painterly", even though the crop isn't as extreme.
Canon 50D, Canon 400 2.8 w/ 1.4 ext., ISO 200, 1/1000 @ f8 PP LR4. Shot from vehicle window.
Thanks for looking and and any comments you may wish to leave.

5 commentsHi Neil,
This one caught my eye after logging on this morning. Composition and high key presentation are very nice. The fog must have been thick because a lot of the finer details are not present. But the overall composition with the harrier looking towards the grass clump is still a winner

I like this. The fog may have masked some of the finer details, but it justed added to the overall effect IMHO. Well done.
Looks like a painting ! Love the pose , the colors and the lost of white. The bird itself however seem to lack quite some detail - wonder where that comes from, the fog alone couldn't do the trick IMHO... Anyway, a very pleasant image to look at or hang on your wall for that matter
, Cheers, Hans
Another sweet image, Neil. Not quite the dynamis of the last post, but the bits of vegetation are just enough to add some interest to the composition and make it stronger. I might be tempted to isolate the white bg and increase the contrast just enough to bring out that ridge line just a little bit more.
Gorgeous shot and painterly look. I also wonder about the loss of detail in the bird, it looks like noise reduction might have done that but surely no need for that at 200 ISO. Anyway, this is a lovely and striking image. Thanks for your comment and for visiting my website
Ingrid.
