Beyond the Wall

As the sun reaches it's equinox, the late evening light has fascinated me for days.  Trying to find a vantage point to take advantage of the extreme side light has proved challenging. This is my favorite so far and was taken from a vantage above Snow Canyon State Park close to my home. I liked the distant light and shadow over the sandstone ridge.

I would appreciate your comments and critiques.  large view probably better

The large view is a must to see. What a beautiful B&W, everything is there for a success story: the light, the shadow and the composition. I love it.

This is very, very nice! The layers are great, with each layer having its own structure and lightness. This looks so otherworldy, just very cool and very well seen!

This is gorgeous, Gary!! Wonderful tones, depth and a great scene. I might burn down the bright areas in far farthest distance along the top edge, but that is really minor. It is a beaut!  You are making fine use of that 1.4X!  devil

What a layered landscape.  I might try adjusting the brightness / contrast a little as it looks a little flat to me.  Eliminating a small slice off the top of the image somehow improves it for me.  The angled rock on the upper left would mirror the angled slope to the right.  Cool formations.

I agree, the late evening light with its low angle across the ridge adds great depth & drama 'beyond the wall'.

Excellent comp & processing Gary, the LP's a must see!devildevil

Nice stacked layering of all the different planes here, Gary, the depth works really well. My only minor nit is a think the bottom is a tad too dark....

Uniqoe and quite beautiful, Gary.  The layers and light work well together.

Gary, I love how the solid rock formations in the foreground transition to the nearly abstract dunes in the distance.  The textures in both sections are awesome.

The light coming across the slope is nice, and the front wall gives it good contrast from areas of dark to light.

Absolutely love the composition here, Gary. Must be the light that makes this one so appealing. Simply excellent......devil
