Here's another from Jean Lafitte on Friday.  Judging from the number I saw, it looks like I'll have a good year for these, and I have about three months left this season.  Although the Argiope may have a more showy abdomen, I prefer the more slender and elegant look of these, plus I like the details of the abdomen and the tufts of hair on the legs.  This one is pregnant but not very large yet.  There was a male in the upper portion of the frame, but he was OOF, so I cropped from top to about 70% of original and cloned out a bit of what was left.

Brings back memories of cruising timber in mixed pine hardwood stands. I avoided these where I could, but there were always the few I didn't see, and I would wind up with a face full of sticky web!

Chances are that male would have wound up as supper for Big Momma! Gives a bizarre twist to the term "dinner date".frown

Bill ...a wonderful image of a beautiful spider. Love those beautiful legs ;-) Was thinking about the looks of this spider on its prey..

Beautiful capture of this spider, Bill.  Her colors and those furry sections of leg reall stand out and the background is perfect.

Bill,

Looks pretty nice, but I wish the tips of the legs were within range of your depth of field. It is a minor nit, overpowered by those nice detailed hair patches on the legs--nicely done................................Jim
