People talked about cloning out a piece of debris in my last post, which I agree with, however in this one, I feel it's an essential part of the image. Not particular fond of the head positoins in this image, but I really like the action and wing positions.
7Dii, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f/7.1, 1/4000, iso 500, manual exposure. Processed in LR5 and CS6. The birds were flying away from me, so this image ended up being a relatively significant crop. Final size is just under 9 MP. Taken 2 seconds after the last image.
Thanks for all the comments on the last post-I really appreciate the input.

9 commentsOuch!!!! Tough love for the young one here Dennis. Looks like a learning moment on how to try to keep your catch. Yikes. Great mid-air catch. Tough light, but amazing action.
Or this could be any one of our major airports, with the pilot half asleep & on auto pilot
Love the action/timing as the two tangle, and I agree.. the debris is an essential part of the image here, without a doubt..
Excellent details & placement in the frame. And you managed the light/shadow in expert fashion Dennis
Another cool image from these birds... and you are right amoud the mud
, cheers, Hans
Very nice action captured, Dennis.
Interesting action captured. I agree the falling feathers add interest to the image. Thanks for posting, Dave
I like the action in this a lot Dennis. Looks like you had some challenging light. I think it can be improved by bringing up the shadows and darks overall and also toning down your brightest whites just a smidgeon. I also feel like the birds might look better placed on the RHS since the mature eagle's head is facing left and it is the main focal point of the image. I know you already cropped this a lot, so if you don't have the canvas on the left to do it, so easy to add it as you know..especially with blue sky. Still really nice moment captured!
Good action image! I like the detail in the eagles. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Dennis,
Man !
I'm loving this Eagle series of yours and my hat's off to you for coming away with so many good images of this action, not an easy thing to do. Staying cool, calm and collected in this situation only comes from an experience veteran like yourself, very impressive.
Nice capture of the action Dennis. I would not clone any of that away. The competition between eagles can be pretty fierce, and fun to watch.
